How to Beat Static This Winter

IMG_0350.JPG

Winter is here in full swing and with colder months, our hair tends to act differently and is prone to static. I don’t know about you guys, but my hair can get out of control during winter!

I’m not gonna lie, I love all seasons. I love dressing in coats, scarves and boots but with more clothing comes more static friction due to a positive charge of electricity... which can go straight into your hair.

Just when I feel like I’m looking cute, I look into the mirror and I see my hair sticking straight up in the air. For years, I used to wear my hair up in a bun all winter long (how I prevented my hair from reaching towards the heavens).

The good news is I have found ways to fix this ongoing winter issue. It may sound crazy but here it is: don’t brush you hair as much in the winter. Brushing adds to the electricity already rushing through your hair strands. When not brushing your hair as much doesn’t do the trick there a few hair products that can make all the difference.

My Favorite Static Fighting Products:

1. Alterna Haircare Anti-Static Finishing Spray $18 This product smells amazing. It smells like coconut. I mean, you won me over there. This product is really  light. It's great for finer hair textures but can also be buildable for the thicker hair as well. Bonus with this product: it adds shine.  It can be bought at Sephora online.

2. R & Co Foil Frizz + Static Control Spray $27 I use this product in the salon and sell it all the time. It's fantastic for all hair types. Sometimes, I spray it just to refresh my hair. The look of the bottle could not be cooler. I love this brand. This product is on the pricier side but it is worth it. A little goes a long way and it works for all hair types. Foil can be found at salons and Nordstrom.

3. Ouai Anti-Frizz Hair Sheets $18 I don’t think I’ve talked about my obsession with Jen Atkin. The hair line she has created is genius. Everything she comes out with so far has been amazing. When I heard she came out with these hair sheets, I had to try them. I love being able to just throw these in my purse for on the go. These sheets work best on fine hair. They do work for thicker hair but you will need two sheets. These can be bought at Sephora.
